I recently replaced the engine in my 90 f150 with a reman 5.0 HO motor. The first 300 miles I ran 10-30 castrol conventional and just did the first oil change with Mobil 1 10-30 and Wix filter. I look at this engine as kind of a clean slate of sorts. My question is for a brand new engine is 10-30 what I should be running and will the synthetic provide longer life than conventional would?

I think it all boils down to personal preference.

With regular oil changes, conv oil will work just fine. You would have to double the interval time to break even on switching to syn.

This is not the 60's-70's with the crap oil they had. Clean burning engines with any kind of quality oil will survive a very long time.

Our '01 F150 at work has 300K on it. Just regular oil changes with conv. oil. Still going strong.
