Hi all, i have a f250 4x4 with a 460ci 5sd. I was driving home today and heard a decent pop from the engine bay when going up a hill and then the truck started shaking when i got on the gas. It has a pretty loud tick as well. The tick was there and i was going to look at the lifters in a few days i just wanted to see what you guys thought of it. Didnt see any abnormal leaking or any holes in the block itself. I feel it might be a push rod or something to tie along with the messed up lifter.

 

So i pulled the valve cover off and noticed the pish rod popped off the rocker for cylinder 7. The one that hasent came off i can rock back and forth but the others dont move. Could i be dealing with a bent push rod or a bad piston or lifters? Im at a loss with how it could just pop off like that.

 

Either a lifter gave up or a valve stuck open. Check the push rod for straight put it back on and start it see how it acts.

 

Yeah i ordered new lifters, rods and rockers going to see the inside in a few days. Heard there is a special tool to pull out the lifters in some vehicles any idea if it applies to this one or not?

 

Special tool to pull them without removing the intake? Not on a 460.
