Engine weights

Anyone have documented engine weights for the 15's?

Also, are the trannies the same for all engines?

All 2015 and 2016 F-150s come with the 6-speed automatic regardless of engine.

I have no clue about engine weights.

Good stuff Tim, can you source any of that? I remember trying to find the engine weight for the 2.7L and finding an article saying it was either 5 or 10 lbs lighter than the 3.5L EB. Never found any hard numbers.

Attached is the spec sheet for the 5.0L crate engine. Lots of good specs there, and it shows an engine weight of 431 lbs. Definitely lighter than the EB engines.

I was expecting a larger difference between the pee wee and the 5.0...Wow!

Still, these trucks are so much more lighter than pre 15.

I've seen where the 6.2L V-8 is about 125-140 heavier than the 3.5L EB but I can't prove that right now. If that's the case then the little six's are pretty solid and over built.

I believe that's right, someone on another forum said the 6.2L engine is 580 lbs. I can't find a source for that though.

Easier to compare the curb weights with each engine.

Good thinking. Pulled the spec sheet for the '13 model year and it's not consistent. Some configurations, like the 157" Max Tow models, only show a 107-lb difference between EB and 6.2L. The 145" WB max tow models show an 87-lb difference. 157" 2WD trucks have a 191-lb difference.
