75 ignition cylinder removal...??

I became the proud owner of a 75 Bronco a little less than a month ago.
Cool truck with a lot of upgrades.
Wishing weather was warmer so I could dig into more, but right now a few minutes at a time in the garage is best I can muster.
Former owner had been using a key blank and doing some wiggling to start the ignition.
It does work.
I can get to all the positions and with a little wiggle does what needs to be done.
Saw cylinders with pairs of key fairly cheap and thought I would like to replace it.
Watched videos showing turn to ACC position and paper clip in pin hole to yank cylinder out and can slide new in...
After 4 sessions of 20 minutes+ each, still cannot get old out.
Guessing it is probably because I do not have a complete correct key.
I get the blank about 1/2 way into the cylinder and can get it to ACC.
Put paper clip and and feels like I am able to push in whatever spring loaded piece that needs to be pushed.
But even with a TON of wiggling the key blank, using dental picks, and everything else I ever tried to get locks to open...
Still cannot get cylinder to pull out.

Fully realizing that it might sound like something criminal, I still have to ask.
Anyone know what I have to do to get this out so I can install a new cylinder with keys that fit instead of wiggling?
Had hope of finding a key code and just being able to get correct key ground to that shape, but have yet to find any info on that either.
Truck has a cross bar for cage at bottom of dash and a BUNDLE of wires behind the switch or I would just yank the whole switch with cylinder. AT least I could get it into the warm house and get a closer look.
BUT...clearance and access to the back is pretty tight.
Would be nice to get at it from front side.
If anyone has anything to offer, appreciate it.
I can check one thing off the list before spring if so
Silver Lake Sand Dunes here me and the kids come

Nice ride!!!! You may have to use a slide hammer to get it out.

zero knowledge

Don't know anything about it - had mine since '83 & never a trouble…

may B it's that the worn key/lock R not getting into position?
If you MUST do it from the front only how bout planning on a total replacement of all parts (eustation, tumbler, lock, etc) by drilling it out?

Good luck, keep talkin -

What? Really? The ACCessory position? All the Ford-Lincoln-Mercury lock cylinders I have had to pull came out in the ON (running) key position. These were early 1980s and later. Was it really the ACC position back in the 1970s?

If it was supposed to be in ON, and you had it in ACC instead, that would sure explain it!

It's ACC, not ON, but once the paper clip is in you need to continue turning the key counter-clockwise before you can pull it out. TBP has a video at the bottom of this page... Ignition Starter Switch Cylinder & Keys Only, 66-77 Ford Bronco - Toms Bronco Parts

Appreciate that.
I got new cylinder with pair of keys.
Going to see if the new keys do anything different than the unground blank did.
I did not realize that I had to keep going CCW.
Hopefully knowing that will help too.
Video makes it look pretty simple.
Got my fingers crossed that it will go that easy for me too.
THANKS a bunch !!!

Dclack is right, just adding you need the correct key to do it though. Wiggle that old key as much as it takes to get it in the ACC position one last time. Then push the pin in the little hole, that will allow you to turn it further to the left, then will it slide out.

By the way, nice rig. I have a 77 in the shed, my first new vehicle! Needs some work but still has a sweet running camed up 351 I dropped in it a few years back (o the good ol days), went through a lot of spyder gears and rear axles, too much fun lifting those front wheels off the ground.

Got it !
Once I knew what I was really trying to do, got old one out, new one in.
Appreciate the help.

Congrats too 6.0 Bum.
Awesome choice for a 1st vehicle.
Sounds like a bunch of fun too.
Mine has a built 351 too.
I got some of the specs and info on the motor.
Was surprised, 284 Comp Cam in it.
A lot bigger than what I would have expected in a 4x4.
But it sounds COOL and even though I have barely drove it, feels like it wants to flip right over on it's roof when I got on it a little.
Looking forward to Sand Dunes this summer.

They do have tendency to flip over in reverse if you are backing uphill and stand on it. I think its a combination of the weight on the front axle and not being able to get your foot off the gas when your standing on your nose! Have fun!
