I did a lot of research online, found one from one of the F1 parts dealers, but they were asking well over $100. Finally found one online for $30, but when it arrived it didn't match the dimensions on the datasheet, and therefore didn't fit, so I returned it. Finally gave in and spent $50 at NAPA. I bought a complete add on fan assembly, removed all the stuff from the motor, and it fit like a glove. I think they have a cheaper version online, I bought the only one they had, which was chrome, and you obviously don't need chrome.

Which heater do you have? Is it a ford script or something else? You might be able to find a proper replacement here:

From my understanding, for original function, the motor needs to be reversible. My plan is to use the original motor on 12v with the dropping resistor.

(I am still looking for wiring connections from motor to switch)

Which heater style? The fresh air version - ducting through the passenger fender - was not reversible. Can't speak to the recirc variety.

If you are talking about the three-door heater, that looks similar to this:

I replaced the motor with a MEI 3354. It's a single speed reversible motor.
Blower Motor, 3354, Airsource

Is the reversible feature a requirement in the heater?

Unless I misunderstood the function of the heater. I believe it spins one direction to push the air through the defroster vents, and spins the other direction just to push heat out to the floor through the front.

Or at least, that's how I've been using it.

When I switched from 6v pos. to 12 v neg. my heater runs backward, it still heats but pulls the air from the wrong opening. Thus the defroster won't work. I will be needing a reversible motor soon. I may take it to an automotive electrical shop locally, I think they can do the job.

Skalywag, I have the Car heater and I found out after TEN YEARS it was doing the same thing. Even tho it's a 12v(-) motor?! So I swapped the motor leads and all is well.

Ross is right, just swap the power leads. Here is where I got mine:

My heater is the three door type as shown above, however it is two speed. So I would have two hot wires going to the heater and a ground. I don't see reversing wires as the answer. If it was single speed, I would try it.

See parts 015070100 and GR-080 on the link in post 12 below. They have 2 speeds and 3 wires.

But it all depends upon which switch that you have. I have seen blowers switches that have resistance built in. Usually you can see the resistor coil from the back on the older switches that are variable speed. A contact rubs across the coil changing the resistance value. I'm not sure that I would use one of those if I was changing from 6v to 12v. Maybe somebody else has a better opinion about that.

I have been using 6vdc heater motors with 12v using a GM drop resistor pack so I get at least two fan speeds but I do not use "high" since that is direct 12v to the motor. Wiring diagrams are in my build #2 using a 4th gen camaro rotary switch and resistor pack.
