Hey fellas I have the outcome of the $203 BS diag. They got dtc p1408 which is EGR flow restricted. Just a reminder, my truck is deleted via the gearboxz electron so the EGR function is only turned off and blocked off. It is still plugged in. I got a print out of the techs notes and he stated "found EGR valve to be intermittently sticking due to carbon causing exhaust restriction". They knew my truck was deleted and the EGR was turned off. I'm not sure why they didn't realize that's why there was flow restriction but it's whatever. What I don't understand is the valve intermittently sticking. I know the EGR function is turned off so idk why something would be sticking? If somebody could help me with that one it would be great. I've talked to a buddy that works with a 6.4 owner. He said to check the FRP sensor cause his dos the same thing and that fixed it immediately. Which I will do soon and replace it. Rudys diesel and a couple other companies stated the same thing. Thanks y'all for all the continued help! I will definitely start to use the forums more often!

Get yourself a monitor... An edge cts2 will do everything you could ever want as far as monitoring.

But yes, you need to watch your frp.

I have a monitor that I feel like works pretty good. The gearboxz Electron. I'll probably change the FRP sensor out soon though.

Spit balling here...does that tuner cycle the egr valve at idle? You said egr is disabled and blocked off...blocker plates? Egr valve could be sticking open slightly when it's cycled at idle causing the fluctuation...no? I could be way off here...just throwing ideas out there.

That's a pretty logical thought. I don't think it does but I'll call and find out today.

Update

Just a little update on this issue. I was running the gearboxz electron at the time of my issues. Nothing I did helped. I had started contemplating getting rid of the truck after reading horror stories all the time but I've decided to keep it do my best to make it reliable as possible. Bought a mini maxx and got it installed today. Ran the truck after install at the stock level cause I don't want the excess power right now. It was a totally different beast. It sounded so clean and smooth and it drove so much better. Not a single hiccup or lope noise what so ever. It runs like a top now. Gearboxz claimed that it was the truck getting stuck between fuel maps but I don't know how reliable that info is. To me it sounded like tuning made it run some crazy timing and maybe that's why it did it. On Memorial Day weekend I'll be doing the river city egr delete with intake elbow along with a high flow CAC cool side pipe. Just wanted to give an update.

Bubba
