1989 f250 - Maintenance records are cool
About a month ago I bought a 1989 f250 351w C6 The odometer is just shy of 15000 right now. I got a folder full of maintenance records from the previous owner. I finally went through them tonight. Here's what I find:
June 1999 - Engine replacement odometer = 61622
(10 years old and replacement engine so likely 160k, right?)
May-July 2002 - Receipts show a different owner did:
Ball joints
Alternator
Lower steering shaft and gear box, odometer = 80269 (180k, right?)
Brakes
New A/C system
This guy replaced heater core in Jan 2004
April - Sept 2004 - Receipts show a different guy bought a lot of parts. He must have done the work himself. He did:
02 sensor
Elec fuel pumps
Fuel sending unit
Trans fluid, gear oil, gasket, etc for apparent fluid changes
Shocks
Had a vacuum leak repaired at shop
Plugs/wires/air filter/PCV valve
Shocks x 4
cyl lube inj cleaner and oil change stuff
EGR valve
Fuel filter
$75 worth of coolant hoses and clamps, etc
Reman brake booster
Pioneer stereo (still in it!) - odometer = 94941 (195k, right?)
March 2006 - Wiper motor
Then there is a 7.5 year gap until in July 2013 another guy had a shop:
Spd sensor
TP sensor
Map sensor
Fuel filter
Inj cleaner
Unhook rear tank
So I figure the guy that did all the work and put in a stereo in 2004 did all that to drive it. So to get to my 15000 now, he probably put more than 20000 miles on it during those 8 years! I must be at 315k on the odometer rather than 215k, do you agree?
To look at the interior, you might guess its 115k. But the body is rough and has the typical rust holes in the wheel wells, some dents, etc. I'd post some pics for you, but I'm too new.

That is cool almost like having a journal of the trucks life and it sounds like it's had a good one.I wish I had a copy of my 88 maintenance records my truck has been pretty solid and reliable in the 7 Months I have had it, but those records would help me know for a fact I'm good as far as avoiding any issues and add peace of mind.

I got those with my 91 almost nothing was replaced plugs, wires, oil, cap, rotor, tires, brakes, and motor 279000 miles
Since I've had it starter, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, starter, module, transmission, slave cylinder, entire steering system, starter, u joints, slave cylinder, master cylinder, slave cylinder, tires, one rim, starter, bushings, and the battery 315000 miles
Soon to come starter, clutch, brakes, transmission, and heater core
I have to say the new transmission won't be a Mazda

So, I'm wondering about the C6 transmission. Do they generally last 300k miles? I have seen no problems yet, in fact it shifts very very smoothly. Heck, it was perhaps rebuilt/replaced and the records just didn't make it in there, I really don't know. I also have no clue how the truck was driven or how much it pulled during its life.
So what do you guys think? Is there a chance even after 300k that the C6 has a shot at holding up a while?
