Today.. I have learned an important lesson.. No Matter how good a truck runs... it will fail sometime. I think I have found the general mileage that you can run a truck with original parts. My truck has 127,000 miles on it.
these are the things that have failed in the last 2 weeks.
clutch. slipping
fuel injector o-rings. squirting fuel on my exhaust manifold.
u-joints. front one made a rattleing noise when 4wd was engaged. took it off. needle bearings where gone and replaced by dust.
this is what I replaced today.
altenator. no output at all.
starter. when I took the starter off.. needle bearings fell out the front.
and this is what i know will fail next.
while i was replacing the starter. coolant was driping on my head..
Heater Core here I come
I am by no means complaining.. I think it is funny as hell. One thing goes and it all starts failing. Kinda of like the rule of 3. One famous person dies.. and 2 more will follow the first one in a matter of a week.
I hear ya. "when it rains it pours" comes to mind. If it makes any difference your not the only one in that situation. I am playing the game myslf. Regards.
Oh yeah. We went under my truck to pull the trans. and wound up replacing the oil pan (and pump)and replacing the exhaust system. Also found that I need shocks. Shortly I will be replacing the tires (I've already done a brake job all the way around, replaced the battery, u-joints, etc.). I will need to do a wheel alignment. I almost cringe when I think of what could be found here. I still think that it is cheaper than payments overall. Then again...
Yes ok here's mine. first was the battery, then the transmission, fuel injectors, water pump, radiator is due, front suspention has a broken bolt and the spring bushings are worn out. I am sure I am missing somthing, or else I will find it tommorow. but it will be good for a nother 100,000 when I am done I guess. LOL
Its a crappy game that everybody has to play. No matter what company you buy from, stuff starts to wear out in a general mileage. After about 100,000 miles things start to wear out and need to be replaced. Thats when the guys like us, stick through it and replace everything. Any others just trade it for a new car. They can't last forever, unless you fix it! I think its kind of fun to have things go wrong, in a way. I love working on cars so, if nothing went wrong there wouldnt be anything for me to do. Cost is just a crappy byproduct.
