1992 F150 4.9 Flareside Starting issue

Hey guys/gals I have a 1992 F150 4.9 Flareside. When cold and sometimes even warm (if it sits in the parking lot) the truck starts or tries but runs real erratically for a minute then finally smoothes out to a regular idle. It used to do it on the front tank and not the back (back has new fuel pump) but now does not want to start on back tank at all but runs better on back tank after starting on front. To get it to start I turn the ignition on and off several times to build good fuel pressure and then have to kind of feather the throttle pedal lightly on and off/ up/down (I think you get it) and it will fire up run like S#$T for a 1/2 minute or so then kick in and purr like a kitten. After it warms up I can hit the ignition and zoom were off to the races except sometimes as mentioned above.

Your assistance with this issue is greatly appreciated!!!!!
