1996 stock F150 with 5.8L V8 4WD

Been having this issue for a while (few years now) and decided now would be good time to fix (truck not driven enough to be of much concern). I have no issues starting and notice no issues during driving from rear fuel tank. However, when starting from the front tank I have to prime the pump (turn key on/off) a few times before I can start the engine. If I don't prime the pump and just try starting, it will crank but seldom starts. If by chance it does start, the engine idles very rough for a few seconds and dies. Once I get the truck started and run from the front tank, I notice a slight power loss - nothing major but it's noticeable. There are no issues with the rear tank - starts and runs normal. New (within last two years) plugs and wires. Looking for a good place to start troubleshooting, unless someone has experienced this issue. Thanks.

 

That sounds like a fuel pump issue. Have you done a fuel pressure test yet?

 

It's on the list of checks.

 

It should really be at the top of the list because without sufficient pressure every other test is a waste of time.
