Cranks but won't start with 1/4 tank

From what I'm reading on here it sounds like the dreaded in tank fuel pump melt down. I was driving along at about 35 and all of a sudden the engine became unresponsive. I put the truck in N and cranked it over, it started and ran for another 1/8 mile and then shut down again. It didn't start after that. If you let it sit then crank it, it would sputter for a second like it wanted to start but wouldn't. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

check your fuel pressure. don't know exactly what it should be, but probably around 55-60psi with your key on, and slightly lower once your running/idling. if your fuel pressure is good, could be ignition related.

Do you hear the pump when you turn the key? Is the CEL on?

Where is the control module located? And did you test the old tank to see if it was bad? Splice the red and black wires and hook to battery cables and see it runs. You might have only had a bad control module. Oh yeah what year and model?
