I just bought a nice 1983 Ranger 2,3 L 4x4, but the person that had it before me take off the catalytic converter and the antipollution system.. so we tried to make timing with sound because when we want to stop the engine don`t it turns back and stump before stop but it doesn`t work.. Is anybody can help me with the right mark or angle for timing pls... I don`t know very well the 2,3 L and the Ford master mechanic don`t wanna tell me that...

i have a 91 ranger and the timing mark is under the plastic cover positioned at about 5:30 if looking at a clock.it looks like a little plastic guage and you line up with the mark in the center.
