Smile Body Seams On Bed

HEY GUYS,

QUICK QUESTION ON MY BED. I HAVE A '69 F100 WITH AN 8FT BED. OVER THE YEARS SOME SURFACE RUST HAS OCCURED IN THE SEAMS OVER THE PAINT, WHAT DO THINK IS MY BEST OPTION TO GO ABOUT CLEANING THAT OUT AND THEN FILLING THEM UP?
WELD IT IN, OR USE A BODY FILLER?
THE WELD SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD SOLID METHOD, BUT NOT SURE, ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS?
THANX,RC

Body Seams On Bed

Since nobody else responded I will take a wack at it, maybe some of the more experienced with add on.

I cleaned out the bed seams on my 72 using a knife to cut out the old seam filler and then useing a ice pick and dental pick to get as far in as I could to loosen up the rest of the rust. I am going to use OSPHO to convert the rust . You can then go to NAPA or any of the other good auto parts stores and ask them for seam filler. If you ask them how to go about applying it they will tell you what to do.

I tried that, but mine was not small enough to get in there. It would work if you could find one small enough.

You could sand blast it out. if you dont want to have to repaint the whole bed put several layers of tape along the seam and use a spot blaster. I have used this technique on a few touch ups.
