weld seam
is there a weld seam that runs the length of the rear panels underneat the trim on my 78? Im trying to figure out if it is like that from the factory, or it it was wrecked or somthing. thanks guys.

i think that panel has been replaced. all my trim has been removed on my 79 and there is no sign of welds. besides thats a trick of the trade when replacing panels, make yer cut and weld under the trim so the job looks perfect after replacing the trim

have you sanded to bare metal under the trim? With just the trim off, you cant even tell the seam is there, theres a very thin coat of filler, so I'm guessing thats a dead give away righ there, just wasnt sure.

There's no weld seam in that location, the rear quarters are stamped in one piece. Sounds like the quarter panel has been repaired due to collision damage or rust.
If it's a clean repair, I wouldn't worry. It's better to have new metal welded in than have it hammered out and patched up.
