Unlifting a truck

Hi Guys,

Recently bought a 1993 F150 5spd with 226K on the clock for $1800. Needed a truck to transport motorcycles from place to place. It's lifted a couple of inches, and I would like to lower it. Any places around the north shore that can do it? Is it an laborious (aka expensive) task?

I'm not great with working on trucks (more bikes) but I'll need to learn if I'm going to maintain this truck. I don't think I can unlift it myself.

Some pictures would help..

Any mechanic should be able to handle removing the lift.. They may not want to take the responsibility for it though..

It all depends on what the lift is that is on the truck.. Some lifts just add a block on the springs and an extra rubber body mount..

Other types replace suspension components.. That would be costly to remove..

I'll get some pictures of the suspension tomorrow. Truck is a little to big for putting bikes in the back. Putting on 93 lightning wheels soon.

Your right, it's not. I haven't put my new wheels on, but I feel like it's going to look and feel awkward. I guess I should wait until then to be positive.

New wheels won't add much height unless your going from 16" to 20"

I'm putting on lightning wheels (1993 era). And they already have normal size tires on them. I believe they are 17", but the tires are much smaller.

The Lightning wheels are probably a lower profile tire

Without a doubt. I guess I could do a tire swap on the wheels, but I'm not sure that's what I want.

If your looking to drop the truck to be able to drive a bike on it that will be tough..

Better to get a trailer

I'll post pictures of the truck with the new wheels + tires tomorrow. I'll go from there.

I would measure the truck height with the original wheels then with the new ones
