Suspension help needed

So I bought this money pit, sorry, I mean Excursion..lol Anyway the tires were 315/70/17 (35's) They were trashed, so I just bought a new set of BFG Ko2's.

Anyway, Now that I am having a better look at the lift, I am thinking it looks like a bit of a hack job. I want this to be safe, as I will be pulling our camper with it. I am getting very close to having too much money in this now, so I need to keep costs down..

What are my options? Here is what I am thinking:

-Sell tires, remove the lift, return to stock

-Buy a proper 4" lift (will the 35"s work with a 4"?)

- Some sort of V and B with small lift hybrid

or ?

Thanks !

Let's start with what is currently on it.

How about some pics of the front and rear springs, blocks, bump stops and shocks.

Safety is always a concern (don't believe those that say price is the most important) You can 35's with a 4 inch lift. We have done several Pro Comp kits with good success on the Excursion (money pits, lol) When you get the truck back, get in touch with us so we can help.

I am running 305/70R18 Nitto Duras that are 35.28" tall and they fit fine on my EX with a 3 7/8" lift on the front. Your BFG Ko2 315/70R17s are 34.4" tall, so they should fit with no issues on a 4" lift.

Looking forward to seeing the suspension pictures, what have you seen that says "hack job" to you under there?
What motor does the EX have? And what gears are spinning those bigger tires? And how much does the TT weigh? Sorry for all the questions, but that info may help to get you dialed in for the best towing experience, that's pretty much all that my EX does is tow a big TT.

Thanks for the replies !
So here are some details:
-V10
-4.30 gear ratio
-Trailer has a gvwr of 9000lbs, 7700is empty I believe..

Ok, first the front.
-first off, someone has used blocks, I understand blocks are a no no on the front.
-second, look at the track bar. Chassis end is shimmed, and axle end appears to be raised. To be fair, lots of gussets there. Looks solid though.

Rear, blocks, and leaf spring parts?
-hmmm

and finally a pic of my TT: (with my "old" 2011 dually)

I guess it works as it looks like it has been there a while. I agree with you, it appears to be home made job. Front blocks are a no-no. The rear doesn't look much better. That much torque, seems like axle wrap would have already been an issue. At least you have enough sense to get under your own vehicle and look. That is becoming less and less common.

Cool, that is exactly what we need to begin sorting this out.

If you can get us the center of the wheel hub to the bottom of the fender arch it will help us figure out where to go from here.

I will be home tonight and I can sit at a computer and get into it.

Thanks. Truck is still at the shop, but will see if I can swing over and do that. I will say that the rear is a few inches lower than the front..

If you lifted your truck with assorted steel plates and such, you might be a redneck...

obviously the PO, not you.
