1986 F350 7.3L dually

I recently bought my 1986 Ford F350 7.3L dually for $1000. It seemed like a hell of a deal. But now im starting to wonder. I want to know if there is anywhere local (Radcliff,KY.) that i could find that either has or could help me find a turbocharger and air intake system for my truck. It currently has 29000+ miles and the starter doesnt turn the engine over. But i have new batteries and im waiting on a new starter. Any advise and/or help would be appreciated.

The owner did tell me the odometer has rolled over once. So there is 129000 miles on it. As for the turbo, im having trouble finding a complete kit. My truck has the intake hole on the top of the engine but everything for the turbo and air intake is not there.

Another issue is the exhaust. I have the exhaust manifolds on the engine, but the rest is gone. It looks like there was a stack going through the bed on the passenger side. But theres no pipes at all.

Will the 6.9 run well without a turbo?
Im a diesel mechanic in the army and ive worked on hundreds of diesels but i haven't had my own till now and i have no idea where to get good quality parts.

Ok, sounds like someone yanked the turbo off before they sold it. Yes they will run NA, that is how it came from the factory. Air cleaner (any standard one will do, same as most carbs) and exhaust wye pipe will get you going. Or like tjc said, start poking around craigslist / ebay. Common aftermarket kits are Banks, ATS and hypermax. In 93 and 94 ford used the ATS kit as their factory turbo kit. For new parts look to idiperformance.com or hypermax as banks and ats dont support the platform anymore.

I've got fuel all the way to the injectors but still no start. I think the injectors or injector lines might be clogged.

do the glow plugs work?
are you getting any smoke out of the exhaust when cranking?
try turning the key to run position and leaving it there for at least one minute to make sure the glow plugs are off and cooled down a bit.
then give the engine a slight whiff of starting fluid and try starting it.

This is what I'd do.

Banks still make a turbo for our trucks and still have parts. Limited parts on the the first gen turbos.

If you need to buy new parts for your existing kit, I'd contact Justin @ R&D(idiperformance.com) - He's pretty good about finding and making parts. At least he'll be able to tell you some options depending on what exactly your missing.

Otherwise... Cheap route? Look for a used Banks kit. $500-$800 typically, and then try to sell off your old parts.
