Just picked up a 64 F-100..."Swamp Donkey"

So will the T98 bolt to it? I was told it was driving at one point, so I have to believe it fit at some point, however I was told the main reason they pulled it apart is the starter ate teeth off the flywheel.
Plans for it right now are get it moving on its own power, then I think I would like to swap some one ton running gear into it. Not sure what the front axle is, but its a birfield (SP) set up. Its got some hacked mods on it...
I really wish they would not have painted over that green/blue color, it sure is pretty in the cab.

T-98 will not bolt to any FE engine.

Someone told me once that the earth is flat and the moon is made of green cheese. Uh huh,

This truck never ran with the FE engine, cuz the T-98 trans cannot be bolted to it. So what you bought is a Frankenstein monster with parts swapped from gawd only knows what.
"The starter ate the flywheel teeth" wheeze is pure BS since the trans was never bolted to the engine.

Seemed like a pretty hard flame.
I bought it sight unseen. Had a buddy pick it up for me, because I thought it looked kinda cool. It was $350 bucks, not $1500, not $1000...
So now, here we are.
Its a 63 with a 352 in it and no trans. What trans bolts up to a 352? Whats a 352 as far as a motor? Good?
I'll get it running again, finish what someone started and have a fun rig to take in the mud, mountians or other...

Yeah it's a "hard flame" alright - directed right at the SOB that lied to you. In that sense, I wasn't even talkin' to you! Sorry that you took it another way.
352 is a good motor but I'd be inclined to just drop a Y block back in it, depends on what they did with the motor mounts? See how the front has a center mount with 292?

I'm not sure about manual transmissions, but a C6 or a Cruis-O-Matic should bolt to that motor pretty easily. I think that would be the fastest way to get it running.
I'd still love to see how they mounted the FE in that frame. Chances are, the original mounts were cut away in the transplant. If not, a 292 will bolt to the T-98, though who knows how it will all work with the 4WD setup. Installing the Y-block is not the cheapest alternative--just a new flywheel will set you back more than the truck itself.

That may or may not be the right trans, the t18 (which bolts to an FE just fine) also has t98 cast into the top cover.

Do you have the FE bellhousing? If it'll bolt to the transmission your good to go.
If that does turn out to be a t98, finding a four speed that'll bolt to the FE is pretty easy, as the granny 4spds used into the 80's will work.
