FE trans update
A long time ago I posted about putting a small block TL behind an FE in a 69 F100. Actually its behind a 428 in the 69 F100!! Anyway, the SB TL has a longer snout than an FE TL ( not even considering the big spline TL). When I removed the trans from my stock 360/3 speed truck, I noticed the snout on th end of the trans was long, like a SB, not short like an FE. I posted trying to fins someone with the answer. No one knew for sure. Because of this, it seemed the SB TL would fit. But if so, why was the short snout TL made for the FEs???? Anyway, I finally mocked it up and it fits. I know I caould and may still shorten the snout a wee bit to make sure, but it fit fine. I'm even using a 428CJ bellhousing as my flywheel is one oof the 11 1/2 inch units and needs the bump in the bellhousing for the clutch to clear. I originally thought maybe the truck bellhousing was abit deeper, some say it is. But with the car 428CJ bellhousing, the longer snout still fit. Any comments on this?? Pete's Ponies
