66 f100 king pins replacement

Hello. I just ordered drop beams and also going to replace the king pins. Are there any special tools needed? Any pointer? They offer kits with nylon bushings or metal bushings. Which is better? Thanks in advance.

To do this job correctly, you should be able to ream the bushings to match the king pins. If you don't have the proper tools, they are not cheap...... I would suggest you contact a big truck (dumptrucks, etc.) shop that does front end alignments and repairs king pins and ask them to quote you a price. It may be more job than you are wanting to bite off........

Back in the 80s, I tore my '65 apart, installed the nylon busings, new king pins and locking bolt, etc. It wasn't a month later and the nylon was pushing out around the ends of the king pin. I then took the truck to a shop that installed metal bushings and they reamed them to fit. They told me to grease the top & bottom king pin cap zerk every two months. I have and they are still nice and tight and work fine yet to this day.

Thanks for the information. That's what I'm going to do.
