I think I am going to just go through the mechanics to insure everything is as it should and then just work on interior. It is rust free so I probably will jut let the paint go for now. I want to be able to drive it without the fear of messing something up, for now anyways.

I agree that the front is either too low or the back is too high. I have not done this, but I have rear that you could mount the rear end on top the leaf springs instead of below it, Seems to me that that would lower it quite a bit. Another less drastic option is to remove some leaves, that is as long as you are not gonna haul heavy stuff.
Sorry about what happened with your truck, that defintaly not a good end to the day. Thanks for the info. No, I will not be hauling anything so I may try removing a leaf or two? Does it matter which ones or is just trial and error?

BMC Here is a shot of the seat. It tucks in nicely below the window giving me all the leg room possible. One of these days when I can stop driving it I will have it reupholstered.

Here they are (I'm easily distracted)

Remove the shortest ones first. Maybe start with taking out two.

you can take the main spring off and reverse the eyes. that means bend it the opposite way and mount it upside down. find how to's on Youtube. You may have to reverse one of the mounts also. Cant remember.

Quick update Not being able to keep it running I took off the fuel pump and it was all gummed up. So it was easy to find where I needed to start. New fuel pump, take out gas tank to get cleaned, as well as the radiator. I learned the hard way that the tank actually had a drain. (guessing that served a purpose when fuel was not as stable?) Anyhow, need to replace radiator hoses and was checking thermostat...which there was none. As well as the hole for the bolt of the thermostat housing being half gone. Any idea what thermostat I would need and how I would find a replacement part for the housing? May be a newbie question...but that is me, a newbie. Again it is a 352.. that is about all I know. Thanks.

Rock Auto has the thermostat and gasket. Just look it up as a 1961 Galaxie. The usual repro sellers seem to carry the housing. A quick google search of "Ford FE thermostat housing" yielded C&G Ford Parts, CJ Pony Parts, and Scott Drake with possibilities. Check photos before ordering to make sure the hose end is about the same size, shape, and direction as yours. The intake manifold end is the same on all.
