I really gotta stop doing this....
This abandoned project circa the 1980s ended up following me home. The truck is pretty straight and has very little rust, but the extra parts are what sealed the deal for me.
Apparently the plan was to build some kind of custom front end with 8 headlights using bezels and buckets from a square body chevy truck. Not really my style, so I'm not really sure what i'm gonna do with this front end quite yet. I might try to cut out the welded in stuff and try to salvage the hood and fenders, but i'm not sure it's gonna be possible.
Someone put in a camaro front subframe and a 350/turbo 350. Unfortunately, it's placed way too far back and would need some pretty extensive work to get usable, might end up just cutting out for some enduro racer type that uses these suspensions.
Surprised to find a 12 bolt in the back. From what I can determine, it came from a 68-72 chevelle or Monte Carlo or something similar. I intend to figure out what exactly is inside and make a decision what to do with it. Another part likely to be sold.
Also came with some brand new bed side parts that someone custom made. Need very little work, but I should end up with a pretty dang nice box after it is all said and done.
This might be the crown jewel of the whole lot. Unfortunately, i didn't have a better picture to show the pinstriping job that was done on here. Again, very 80's. Even came with a pair of fiberglass running boards that I don't think I'll be using.
Tailgate has the seat belt buckle style chain replacement. Might end up keeping this set up the way it is and using it.
Also came with a set of chrome steel rims that really cleaned up nice. Some really nice and wide rear tires set up. They're definitely old bias ply tires, but they're pretty much brand new, and have no tread wear. Unfortunately, one of the front tires has some pretty deep cuts in the sidewall that would make it unsafe for anything more than a roller.
Super wide is definitely a good way to describe these 275 width tires. Like I said, pretty much brand new, but they're old school. I'm having a hard time getting them sold for what I think is a reasonable price, but I'll have patience.
They also came with this spoke/hubcap setup that is kinda cool.
The rear fenders are OK, but definitely need some patch work. The p/o definitely loved his bondo.
Inside of the tilt front end. There is very few dents and no rust here, so the amount of bondo that has been put all over this truck doesn't really make a whole lot of sense.
Some nice valve covers to boot. These sold quickly.
There were a lot of other things, like a dual carb setup that I didn't have pictures of. Maybe one of these days I'll ACTUALLY be able to get to building this truck I'm planning...
