Exclamation NEED HELP!!! 6.4 Powerstroke

First post to the site.. Must say ALOT of good info and help on here. Im in need of some serious help here. I have a 2008 F350(SRW) 6.4 with 146k on the clock. I bought it used w/ ab 100k on it. I've never had any problems with the truck. About a week ago, it started pouring thick white smoke out of the exhaust. Oil level is fine, coolant is a little low(nothing drastic). There is also a little rattle coming from what I assume is the turbo area. The air filter was dirty. When running it sounds almost like a weed whacker. When the truck is started then shut off, the motor clearly stops running but there is a grinding sound that lasts ab a second or two after. Any input or help is greatly appreciated.

If it's white smoke, I think that would be coolant in the crank case. Maybe take it in and have the EGR coolers and water pump checked?

Thanks for the move to the appropriate area. I am still curios why not boost though. Is this a sympt of egr going bad? Also what is that rattle sound like a weed whacker?

The sound after stop could be considered normal It is you fuel cooler shutting down.

Not sure what to make of your other sounds when running.

Any chance you can get a video/audio of it?

It won't let me upload audio/video. Would a bad turbo throw 200E code?

don't think so. Here is the code you indicated
P200E Catalyst System Over Temperature (Bank 1)

Put it on youtube and then link it here.

P200E - Catalyst System Over Temperature (Bank 1)

Description: The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the exhaust gas temperature bank 1, sensor 2 (EGT12) and exhaust gas temperature bank 1, sensor 3 (EGT13) sensors for an over temperature concern. If the EGT12 sensor temperature is greater than 830°C (1,526°F) or the EGT13 sensor temperature is greater then 950°C (1,742°F), the DTC is set. This DTC causes the PCM to immediately illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and enter a torque reduction failure mode effects management (FMEM), which may result in engine shutdown. Once the engine is shut down, the PCM prevents the engine from restarting for 1 hour. If the EGT13 sensor is not working, the engine will not start.
Possible Causes: Diesel particulate filter regeneration occurred during heavy load and high ambient temperature conditions
Excessive amount of soot or ash in the diesel particulate filter
Damaged EGT12 sensor
Damaged EGT13 sensor
Coolant contamination of the exhaust system
Oil contamination of the exhaust system

Diagnostic Aids: This DTC is an informational DTC and may be set in combination with a number of other DTCs which are causing the FMEM. Diagnose other DTCs first. Check the EGT12 and EGT13 PIDs. If no other DTCs are present, the system is operating correctly at this time. Advise the customer of the conditions that may cause this DTC.

So would a blown high pressure turbo cause this? Or am I looking at something totally different?

It sounds somewhat like you have more then one problem to me. White smoke is coolant, so it's either EGR coolers or head gaskets.

The sound could be the turbo. The code could be from both/either...

The turbos have their own codes that get set.

Personally, I'd be inspecting the DPF and if your truck is going through active regens. Kinda like what you'd expect with a clogged DPF that the truck is constantly trying to clean. The truck can rattle, create white smoke and run horribly. What does your fuel economy gage (mpg) telling you? If your mileage sucks something awful then its pointing to an active regen. Cuz otherwise the PCM would toss an injector code, fuel rail pressure code or something with the accompanying poor mileage. Just start inspecting items one piece at a time.

The "weed whacker" noise is the vanes inside the turbo contacting the body of the turbo because the bearing is bad (taking out the seals, causing oil consumption, plugging up the dpf). Replace your turbo.
