Aftermarket Glowpluge throwing code's ?
My friend has to have a inspection for his new registration. He put Aftermarket Glow plugs in on his new motor. It's is now throwing a code.
he took it to two places and they say the same thing.. its only a glow plug code but since its showing the check engine light, they will not pass it..
He didn't remember what the code numbers was. can this be deleted with my Scan tool to pass ? he has the same truck. 02 7.3. .
they are telling him that the ohms of the aftermarket glow plugs is what is setting off the light.
can a resistor be put in the glow plug wire by the outside harness ?
He lives 2 hours away from me in Bakersfield..

I don't think a different GP can throw a code, but a bad one sure will. Does the truck have a GPCM or GPR? GPCM code will indicate which one is bad.
I would not compromise the wiring with a resistor. That will bite you in the hiney later. Best bet if fix the real problem.
What brand GPs? If they are Autolites remove them promptly. The word is the heads swell then they are impossible to remove. Gotta yank the head after they swell, just yanking will break it off in there. Not so good.
Could be a wiring issue, not the GPs themselves.
CEL = no pass smog. If you clear the codes a certain number of drive cycles (it's complex and varies by vehicle) must be completed so all the systems can be checked as functional by the PCM. During that time you will also not pass smog.
