I've seen a lot of pictures on this board showing our big sixes painted in various ways. If I wanted to 'correctly' paint my engine how it came from the factory, would the only parts that are Ford blue be the valve cover, head and block? Everything else (timing cover, oil pan, fuel pump) would be bare metal or painted a different color (black for the oil pan), correct?

I think it was the main block assembly (oil pan, block, timing cover, valve cover, etc) were Ford blue while the rest (intake/exhaust) were bare metal. Someone may correct me if I'm wrong.

 

The entire engine is Ford blue. Most of my intake manifolds have also been Ford blue. I don't know know if they came that way or were painted by previous owners. Also a lot of the 67-79 air cleaners were Ford blue. But some were black.

The accessory brackets were bare or black.

 

I painted the block ford blue and the tins matte black, figured with all the abuse we give our trucks why not
