MidFifty Oak Floor

I am getting ready to order Red Oak floor for my 54 F250, has anyone used the floor sold by Mid Fifty, and were you happy with it? Who else have you used, some is kiln dried, some not, some have edges cut for strips, some don't, some have predrilled holes, etc. Hard to compare prices without knowing what you are getting. Any input on your experiences is appreciated.

I also bought mine from Mark-K; excellent parts and service. I used red oak but stained it dark walnut. Most of the work is in the finishing (nine coats). I also bought the SS strips and bolts from them which I hand polished.

We had some great posts on alternatives with the pros and cons of the various types of wood in this thread (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...bed-floor.html). You might want to read through it.

Certainly you would want kiln dried wood, but as you read through you will see some concerns about using oak due to its open grain. If you lived on Orca Island maybe you could get GB Sisson to cut the right kind of wood for you in his sawmill

Based on this discussion I elected to go with aluminum diamond plate over trex. Not original but then my truck is more old school hot rod than stock:

How's that Trex holding out Pete? No heat issues?

It is great. It was easy to work and I don't have anything near it that get hot enough to to cause a problem. I have had Trex decks on my house for about 10 years with no problems. It is pretty tough stuff.

I found a friend who does cabinet work, I think he is going to do them for me, and cover with a Marine polyurethane. It will never be outside except at shows.
