Park Interlock not Working

Park Interlock not Working
Hey All,
I have a 2006 Escape that has the park interlock not working on the shifter. I can manually release it through the little access hole. I have checked the fuse and it is good. I DO have brake lights and have checked the interlock switch by the brake pedal and it is working properly. I am assuming that the solenoid is bad as I cannot hear any clicking from it when I press the brake pedal.
My question is I can't seem to find a replacement solenoid available or a part number. Do I have to replace the entire shifter??
Does anybody have any other suggestions??
Steve

There's some logic in the SJB that must activate the release solenoid. It's recommended to check that before concluding the solenoid has failed.
To check that, gain access to the 6-pin connector on the shifter assembly. Back-probe the red wire and measure voltage between it and ground with the key in RUN and when pressing the brake. You should be able to measure battery voltage when the brake pedal is pressed and zero when released. If that test passes, then check the solenoid ground circuit (black wire in that connector to ground). If that checks good, then the solenoid is bad (open coil circuit, probably). The solenoid coil probably should measure around 30 ohms.
I'd go read this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...05-escape.html You might want to ask that OP if he still has the old shifter frame since its solenoid is good.

I did the checks you recommended. Also have a friend who runs the parts dept. at a local Ford dealer. He checked with a tech who advised the same. Confirmed power to the shifter so ...... bad solenoid. Was able to order just the bottom part of the shifter mechanism. It was around $100 and not to hard to change out.
All fixed now.
Thanks,
Steve
