Gear ratio?

Hello new to this fourm. I have a 99 f150 4.2 v6 5 speed manual trans 2wd. I don't know the gear ratio in this truck but was wondering can I get a gear replaced in the rear differential to lower the ratio I would Iike more lower end tourqe cause it seems it takes along time for my rpm power band to reach its max tourqe when pulling my travel trailer. The motor is running in prime condition no issues with that the motor was rebuilt recently.Thanks.

As OEM it was probably 3.55. Do you have the warranty/data plate info from the drivers door below the lock? There is an axle code in there that can be run down.

Yes, you can change ratios. Figure a minimum of $500 to do so.

IF you have the 3.55 axle, you might be able to find an entire axle to swap in, as 3.73s were optional. Not much of a change though.
