HVAC Vents "Buffet" in cooling, but not heating
Hi All,
Been on the site for a while, don't post much as I've been able to find most of my answers with the search function. Haven't found anything for this one, so here goes!
2005 F250 XLT PSD with manual climate control. Owned the truck for about 6-months and had this problem the whole time, just finally getting around.
The air coming from the vents seems to "buffet", sounds like the air is being restricted. While messing around with it today I noticed it doesn't buffet if I'm in heating, only in cooling. The fan also seems to be quite loud, especially at full speed and sounds like its being restricted.
Airflow seems OK, is keeping me cool during our recently 106 days but I have to run the fan on high and it's annoyingly loud, especially on Max AC to recirculate.
My only comparison in sound is my old 2002 F150 which wasn't nearly as loud on high speed.
Pulled the fan and inspected the Evap coil expecting to find leaves or other things, didn't find anything, looks a little dirty but not bad. Did not pull the cover on the other side yet, as that looks pretty involved.
Checked the operation of the damper for Outside/recirculated air, it is working and stroking all the way.
Since heating doesn't buffet, perhaps the damper that bypasses the heater core in cooling isn't opening all the way? Any direction on where this is located?
