2010 v10 triton check engine symbol
Installed a K&N air filter on 2010 v 10. Check engine light is on showing a wrench. Is this a specific code?
I did not disconnect battery to do install. Did disconnect after to see if it affected light.
Test drove truck and it runs fine, see improved performance.

Unless you have the codes read, it is impossible to guess why the light is on if there are no other symptoms. It could be as simple as a loose gas cap to a problem with your oiled air filter to any type of emissions-related fault.
There are dozens of parts and hundreds of possible codes that all may cause that little light to come on. Got get the codes read. WRITE THEM DOWN, do NOT rely on the parts store drone to interpret them. Do not write down the description or interpretation, write them down EXACTLY as displayed (Pxxxx) where xxxx is some string of numbers and sometimes letters.
The "butt dynamometer" is usually a self-fulfilling confirmation that you accomplished something, even if measurement by instrumentation proves you didn't. You "expect" an improvement, therefore you believe one has occurred.
