I just bought a truck that needs its engine replaced. I'm trying to keep it as 'bolt-on' as possible. Basically my question is, are all EFI 351's the same, is the wiring harness the same, are the accessories the same(a/c compressor,P/S pump etc) I have the functional EFI system from the original 1995 351, could that fit all other EFI years? And also how would you go about reattaching the A/C compressor. Any advice would be appreciated, this would be my first time doing an engine swap.
From my understanding it should be a direct swap from any efi 351, but be aware that 94+ engine is a roller cam engine. But you should be able to just drop in another 351 from efi truck and hook it all up no problem
Would that change anything besides preformance(would it still be direct bolt in?
if your putting a used engine in then go ahead and do oil pump and and water pump and all new oil seals and gaskets, and just me but I'd clean the engine bay real good since the engine will be out and also clean off the used engine.
Please post pictures of the project as you go through it! As somebody who's never done an engine swap but wants to, it would be nice to see somebody else do it for the first time. Good luck!

The basic engine is the same but the location of the TFI and IAT changed so there are differences in the wiring associated with those parts and also in the engine to chassis wiring junction, so not all years are an exact swap.

Am I correct guessing that the truck is a '95 then? The most direct swap will be a '94+ 5.8 but you could make any year 5.8 work, do not use any wiring that comes with a donor.. remove it and only use the complete wiring harness that you have.
