Hey guys can you tell me where I can find information about the 351 that were injected in the mid to late 80's. I may have one but I need to know more about when they started and what it takes to swap one into my truck before I bite. Ed
fuel injections started in 88 for all 351's. it started on all 302's in 87 and was an option for the 351's i think. correct me if im wrong.
what does it take to swap one into your truck? well your gonna have to bite and give us more info, what the truck is, year what engine is in it, are you swapping fully built engine in with the efi or are you swapping the efi over?
I am rebuilding a 54 Ford F-100 and have run across an 87 351 in a van. I was just wondering if there was a easy one of all of the years they did the 351 EFI. Ed
Thank you! Next question is what was the best year for heads on the windsor and are the Cleveland heads interchangeable. Was there a drastic change in the EFI system from 92 to 97 and do you have to have heads for those years if you do a rebuild. Ed
A cleveland head will fit on a 302 and a 351W motor but require special intakes so fitting EFI I may an issue. i am not 100%sure if they make a spacer to adapt the stock fitting intake to a cleveland head swap or not?
If you are goung through the trouble of installing EFI I would just get the stuff from a mustang or a car that doesn't have the speed density system. It will be easier to find that set up than a truck set up thats not speed density.
As for the best head they say the E7? casting was the best other than the GT40 heads or the P heads but they take special headers. No you do not have to keep the stock head with the motor when rebuilding it but one thing to concider is will you be running the EGR system stuff? if so you will need a head the accept the air tube in the back of the head. My guess is you won't be.
Next question. I know that the 351 EFI was in Vans and F-150 trucks. What else was it out in. I will be spending the weekend at the salvage yards and want to only spend time on vehicles I need to. I have a bad habit of spending too much time daydreaming. Ed
yes the maf was on 96 and later for sure. not sure about the 95's. the 351 was available in the e series vans, f-150 250 350, and some mustangs had it as well.
