Calipers need replaced?
How many of you guys have had to replace your brake calipers?
At about the 60K mark, I had the front brakes done at the local dealer. They called me at work and told me a caliper needed replaced because it was seizing up.
Now I am at 100K and having the rear brakes done. They just called and said a caliper needed replaced because......it was seizing up.
Anyone else had a similar issue? I have had pretty good experience with the dealer but this seems a bit odd.

I replaced all 4 on my truck at 116,000 when I bought it. They weren't seizing up, just the opposite. The holes were worn so bad where the bolts go through that the bushings were completely gone! I've never seen that before! BTW, my truck is a 450, the brakes are a little different than the 250's and 350's.
I assume the brakes on your truck are not much different than those on the older trucks. The ones on my 02 have all been replaced. I wonder if it's the piston seizing up, or the slide pins?

I replaced both of my front calipers at 30,000 miles . The pistons had fallen apart, they are some type of composite ceramic material. Just did rotors and pads on the rear at 43k and the calipers are fine. The rotors where pretty shot and the pads had seen better days as well. Truck stops like brand new now, think I'm gonna do the front rotors before winter because they are looking pretty rough.

Just went back through my receipts.
Front calipers, rotors and pads at 76,500 miles
Rear calipers, rotors and pads at 101,010 miles
In both cases, I was told one of the two calipers were bad - I elected to replace them in pairs.
I guess in the big scheme of things getting 76K and 100K out of them isn't too bad. My old Chevrolet K2500 7.4L gasser ate brakes like tic-tacs.

I replaced mine at around 80,000 about 20,000 after i did the first set of brakes and rotors. The biggest issue is the replacements from ford are always reman never new, our local dealer told me he couldn't get them new reman was the only option. I replaced the second set of calipers at 120,000 miles when i did the second set of brakes and rotors, which didn't surprise me the parts seem to be poor quality. I never cut rotors with the loads i haul, the heat would just kill them twice as fast. I even flushed the brake system twice between service both times based on an article i read, ill post it for reference.
