Hey folks,
It's about time for front brakes and I have not done this on this truck so I thought I'd ask for opinions from the experts.
What would you suggest as far as pads, and would you have the rotors turned or just replace them as well? How about the calipers- replace or not? I would like to do this one time and get some mileage without problems so if it's better to do more now I'm fine with it. It got about 75k on the first set (as far as I know- I bought it with 44k so I don't think they had been replaced) so I'd like to get that again if possible.
Also, if recommending rotor replacement, would you use standard or drilled rotors? I use this truck primarily for pulling gooseneck trailers which may range from 8k-20k lbs. so I need something that will last. I'm not hard on brakes though.

and scroll down to the brake section. I have seen many options for rotors/pads but the one item I always see is the caliper pin upgrade.
As far as rotors, I would get the cryo treated power slots. Garunteed not to ever warp. As far as pads, people seem to like Hawks, I personally run OEM pads. First set lasted 100k, so thats good enough for me. I wouldnt worry about replacing calipers unless you have one thats hanging up. Be sure to clean up the caliper slides, and use synthetic brake grease only!!!!! DO NOT use never sieze!
Hey whats wrong with using never sieze? I have used it on my 2000 explorer slide pins and also on my F-250. What kind of problems am I suposed to be having?
I havent ever had a problem with using never sieze until my superduty. The brakes made enough heat to actually burn out the moisture, and leave it in powder form, which doesnt allow the pin to slide. Ended up having to replace the pin, and the bracket that bolts to the axle (rear). When I took the rest apart, found similar results in all of them, moisture was almost all gone, and was starting to turn into a powder. This was only after 30k. Every time I service the brakes, I always clean the pins, and re lube them, but not any more with never sieze.
I've done Power/Slot rotors on both my F-250 4x4 & 4x4 Excursion too. I had the hawk pads installed along with the rotors. It will run yah about $800 to do all 4 wheels plus install. But, I have to say this is probably the best mod I have done to my truck yet. Take Care. Country
