Info needed - 37" BFG Baja T/A's or Goodyear Dura-Wall

I am considering picking up a set of 37x12.50R16.5 HUMVEE Take-Off tires this summer. It looks like the BFG Baja T/A's or Goodyear Dura-Wall's might fit the bill.

Has anyone here ran either?

BFG

Goodyear

Thanks in advance.

I have driven lots of HMMWV's with all 3 types of tires from the old bias ply 36's and the 1st gen 37's. I have ran the 36's on my 79 F250, lousy wet road manners and road wear to say the least.

The newest BFG/Goodyear tire is a great tire and way better than the old previous 2. I have read nothing but good reviews about them. And they are probably the cheapest 37" tire around.

I have 16.5's on everything I own....but have not had a chance to get a set of the newest ones.

Thanks Rich!

BTW - I got the job I was talking about in an earlier PM. I'll be spending a bit of time in Seattle the next couple months and I think that would be a good opportunity to bring a set or two up here. The old style GY MT's I have on now are low on tread and a bit weather checked.

I bought a set of those (dura walls) from Military off road tires. One was as advertised (clean good tread), one was a bit more gnawed on than I would have liked (but hey I'm buying used military tires right...), the other two had tread but significant damage to the leading edges of the treads. So much so, I'm in the process of sending them back to be replaced. I've been traveling over the past 4-5 weeks so haven't been able to get it sorted out yet. Hopefully next week.

The tires come with a bunch of grease in them (something for run flat I think). Had to clean that out and then had two balanced with the beeds instead of weights. No road time yet.

I think I found a supplier for the tires, now to just decide on the Baja's or MT/R's.

Any real world experience either way is appreciated.

I'd say the military Goodyears were close to terrible on snow, in 2wd, open diffs, and on a truck with no weight in it. But they're not a snow tire.

The original radial MT version, or the newer MT/R version?
