55 door window won't stay up

Window rolls down by itself couple of inches. Any thing to do besides replacing the entire regulator? Does not seem to be worn out and guide track felts look good.

Ordered a new regulator from Mid Fifty today. Nothing broke ,so maybe the spring is weak. Will find out next week.

I'd soak the rollers in pb blaster for a bit, then lube all the moving parts/track. Might find you don't even have to replace.

That would make everything move easier. Its lubed now. I am trying to get more resistance. I have a new one on the way. Just moving the arm on the bench, the spring feels weak.

Oh, I misread.

I thought you meant, you could roll the window down with no assistance, but after the first few inches you had to help/push it down.

I'm having that problem with mine. Everything was so dry, that the regulator went down, and the window didn't, so it came right out of the base(part that holds the window in).

Am interested to hear if the new regulator does the trick.

Well i just installed a new window regulator today and the window works as it should. I had to run some emery paper on the track roller shafts of the regulator before I could transfer the plastic rollers. but other than that it worked out fine.
