Picked up the new camper!!

Its a 2015 30ft. Dry weight is 7K. We picked it up in Loveland Colorado which is at 5000 ft. Had to tow it over Cameron pass which peaks at 10,276 ft. Then we dropped into Walden which is around 6500 ft. Then over rabbit ears pass which peaks at 9,250 ft. After that, home is just over 6k ft.

The truck ran great! Was able to keep 45mph up both passes. Highest trans temp I saw was 210 and hottest water temp was 200. I haven't gassed up since the trip but the overhead mpg said 7.9

Only complaint is the slightest hill causes it to shift out of overdrive, but I guess that's typical with 3.73 gears. I think a 5 star tune may be in my future!

Congratulations! Nice looking rig .

Was there any appreciable "fish-tailing" as being passed by big trucks?

I am guessing that you are already using an anti-sway hitch system to minimize it.

Hope you enjoy it many years to come .

I did get a very small amount of sway but I was towing it home with just a normal ball hitch. I sold my weight distribution hitch with our old camper and the new one had not arrived yet. I got the new hitch set up tonight. I had a sway control for the old trailer but never used it, and never had much if any sway problems. I plan on installing the sway control on this set up as it is around 5 feet longer and weighs around 2300lbs more dry. It is also around 2 feet taller.

When we got it home, I checked the tire pressure on the trailer and they were only at 50 pounds. I maxed them at 65. I have since put the rears on the truck to 80 and the fronts to 65. Hopefully this helps.
I will be towing it this weekend. We usually don't camp where there are any type of hook ups, so I will be hauling water. Very interested to see how the truck does.

By the way, Thanks for the compliments!

I was debating how to politely mention that it appears that the tail of the truck is low - and possible the trailer nose. I guess proper tire inflations and a WDH should make things right.

We just bought the 27' prowler lynx a month ago and spring break ed in it. If the dealer had a 30' I would have be interested. Ours didn't sway and pulled great thru the mountains as well. I didn't feel i needed the wdh with my 05' but bought one and sway setup for the longer trips like we did from MI to NC.
