Spare tire question

When I bought my 08' F-350 there was no spare and nothing behind the seat. I need to replace it all. I have a line on a few spare wheel tire combos in my area but the tires aren't the exact same size as the tires that are currently on my truck. Will this be a problem ? Also what items do you see behind your seat ? Also besides the spare under the back, what else is there. I currently have nothing

Thank you
Matt

My first inclination would be to look on Ebay for the hardware- jack and handles- or on www.car-parts.com, which will get you information from salvage yards. You also need the special key for the tire winch- mine was inside a pouch in the glove box. Do you still have the tire winch installed under the truck? You need that, too.
A spare that is odd sized can work, or be a problem- that depends on your conditions. If you are going to limp to a shop to get the tire fixed, it will work. If you want to put the spare on and drive 500 miles before fixing the tire, I would hesitate- I'm not a fan of mix-matched tires on a drive axle for any distance, and I don't think I would like the driving characteristics on the front for any distance. It will work in a pinch, but obviously a spare that is matched to your other tires is the best option.

The special key is not a big deal. There is a thread decribing how to pop out the insert so you can just use the jack handle/crank. I agree that matching tire size would be best, but it's only the circumference that matters. If that is the same it won't matter what size wheel the tire is on.
