steering wheel puller bolt size

Years ago I replaced the clockspring on my 1994, and used my old Craftsman puller, looks like a big crowfoot. I just looked at what bolts came with it for the slots, it has:
3/8 - 24 (fine)
3/8 - 18 (coarse)
5/16 - 18 (coarse)
M8-1.25
Sure think I used one of those bolt sets that came with it, I don't remember any surprises when taking it apart, like not having the right bolts.
3/8" = .375" = 9.5mm, so it should be easy to figure out if any of the 3/8 are appropriate or not as far as body size.
5/16" = .3125" = 7.94mm, so a 5/16 and a 8mm are going to have body sizes real close together, but the thread pitch will be different.

Thanks for all who replied. I bought two M8-1.25 screws from Loew's for a measly sum of 60 cents (the tread just didn't look 24 to me, plus I tried one 5/16-24, albeit corroded bolt) and while the M8 is a little tight, the screws appear to go all the way in just fine. So at this point I'm convinced that this is a metric thread. But usual disclaimers still apply.
Note, I have the factory manual for the car, and it only lists the Ford tool part number for the puller (T77L-4220-B1) not the thread for the holes.
