Does the type of engine oil you use effeect the running EOT? I know everyone runs T6 but if you just use regualr oil will that make your EOT run hotter?
Sorry if this is a silly question.

Not that I am aware of. Differece in oil is mainly from thickness[weight] issues in cold climates. Lighter weights flow easier in cold temps. Takes less heat to thin them out.

I would say absolutely not unless you are running the wrong type of oil and that could be debatable. The wrong type could possibly cause more friction/wear. A WAG on my part.

The reason I ask is because while I was in the hopsital my wife took my truck to jiffy lube and had the oil changed. She thought she was helping. I already replaced the fuel filters and oil filters with the OEM ones. I have noticed my EOT going up and up. Not sure if the new oil is the cause or just funny timing.

No offense to your wife but I wouldn't let Jiffy Lube touch my lawn mower. Do you still have the stock oil cap? Some a/m filters use a diff. oil cap and you may not have the stock one?

I've noticed 15W40 runs a degree or so hotter than 10W30 or 5W40.

I totally agree. Not sure why she would even think of doing it. I guess she was trying to be helpful. Not only did they put the wrong filters in but they also stripped out my drain plug.

Time to see the manager of THAT JL. If no satisfaction, you might talk to a lawyer.

Oh I have argued with the manager there! The fuel filter they put in basically just came apart in the upper fuel housing. Jiffy lubes official position is that it is not there fault and I need to call the people that made the filter. That place is a joke.
