49 F1 Door Striker Question

I'm nearing completion of my 49 F1 rebuild. I bought new door strikers and I notice now that there is a small vertical ridge between the two 12-24 mounting cage nuts, Is there supposed to be some sort of pad that goes between the striker and the post? Seems to me that there must be as the striker will not sit flat any other way. I don;t see one offered in any catalog, but I suppose I could easily fabricate one from gasket material
Thanks Bill

Got a picture? Are you talking about the door latch striker, or the wedge-shaped piece?

I'm talking about the wedge shaped piece that attaches to the door post, which the spring loaded door piece latches onto. Here is a picture of my door post. As you can see there is a definite vertical ridge, about 1/8" in height between the two 12-24 striker attachment machine screw holes. Something must go in here otherwise the striker plate would rock--either that or the Chinese replacements are not factory correct!

Hmmmm.... That ridge isn't on mine. Is it part of the cage for the plate on the other side, stuck thru a slot in the door jamb? Does it look like it's welded? I'd be inclined to grind it off.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll see how the door latch clears the striker once I hang the doors, then I'll be able to decide whether to add shims or grind off the ridge. Seems there must have been some shim or a groove on the bottom of the striker otherwise you couldnt adjust the striker in and out as you're supposed to be able to do.

Ah, yes, the elusive backside ridge. My '49 F4 has the door jam ridge and I thought I remembered the grooves on the back side of the latch. I could not find the original latches but the replacement latches have hash marks that probably serve to grip with the raised ridge on the door assembly.

Did you ever figure out what belonged behind your striker plate?

Nothing goes behind the striker. The ridge in the body mates with the grooves in the back side of the striker to help hold the adjustment.

Door striker...

I took my doors off three years ago. And forgot how it came apart. My original strikers have no notch in them, so all I can see is my striker teetering on the vertical detent of the body. Thx.

Those look like the same striker plates I received from DC for my '49. That is the only one that is listed but, they are incorrect. I don't know if anyone has the correct ones for our trucks.
