New shocks?

I need new shocks for my 87 F1 50. My question is if I am planning on adding a leveling kit on the front down the road will stock shocks work? Or do I need to buy different shocks for the kit?

Probably depends on how much the kit will lift the front. When I put shocks on mine last summer they had a few inches of over travel when the tires were in the air. I'd check how much over travel the shocks you buy have, subtract it from how much you'll be lifting the truck.

You don't want to be maxing out the shocks, keeping something like an inch of over travel is probably a good idea.

I like Monroe Gas Magnum. If the leveling kit is just coils that lift the front about 1.5 inches then the stock size shocks are fine. I've done this on my previous truck and plan to do the same on my new one.

Yes the leveling kits I have been looking at are around the one and a half inch range.
Doostien thanks for the tip on checking the over travel. That makes sense.
TexasGuy thanks for the suggestion on the Monroe gas magnum shock. What leveling kit have you used in the past? Coils is exactly what I was planning on.
Anyone else have any suggestions on the brand and type of shock. This truck will be 99% highway miles so a comfortable ride is what is important. Not off road.

I've always used Superlift. Bronco Graveyard sells a good kit also.
