460 swap and fan issue.

Finally got the 460 in my 78 Bronco last night. Got it together today and running.
Everything I bought work. I used all the brackets from a 79 2wd with 460. Bolted the power steering pump from the 351M on the 460 no problem.

Now to my problem. I'm sticking with the 351M fan shroud and radiator. Well I found out today the 351M fan and spacer will not fit the water pump of the 460. What kind of flex fan and spacer should I get?
For today I put short bolts in water pump pulley and I ran it down the road and back couldn't help myself . It was cold enough outside to keep it cool without fan.

Personally I would try to find 1 of the 7 blade Ford fans. Should be able to measure to see how big of a spacer you need.

The 460 didn't have a fan on it when I bought it.
My 302 had a 7 blade clutch fan on it so I tried it but it has the same problem as the 351M fan.

After all I've been through this week I can't drive it because of a fan and it really needs to be drive able. My other vehicles have issues right now as well.

I just drilled my spacer out to fit, but as I recall it might have been a letter drill size to make it fit tight. Mic the 400's and make sure before you drill. The bolt pattern is the same

yes I got the size wrong its 3/4" for 429-460 and 5/8" for others I went and measured a 429 that I'm working on. they make a spacer that is 3/4" on one side and 5/8" on the other end to fit the fan.

So I can drill my spacer out with a 3/4 bit and it work? That would be great so I don't have to order anything and be driving tomorrow.

Yes, I chucked my spacer up in a lathe and opened up the ID so that it was barely larger than the boss that sticks up on the water pump. It doesn't have to be perfect, but I wouldn't go too much larger than the boss OD, otherwise it could get bolted together crooked and out of balance.

Went down the road to the junkyard and there was a 79 F150 with 460. Still had the fan on it(7 blade clutch fan). Got it for 15 bucks. Took it for a drive today didnt have any bad problems. Came home and fine tuned idle speed, idle mixture, and timing. Purs like a kitten. Next time out I'll see if carb needs further tuning.
