Power steering hose fun
Round one - Removed high pressure and return hoses. Installed new return hose first, no problem. New high pressure hose would not thread to the steering gear, no matter what I did.
Round two - Re install old high pressure line into gear box, no problem. Take old line back out thinking it is just me and try to re install new line again, no go.
Round three - Re install old high pressure line into gear box, again, no problem and attach to pump, fill with fluid and leak check as both lines are attached and secured.
Round four - New low pressure line has a leak around the factory wire crimp connection where the hose attaches to the metal pipe. This was the only leak found and was the cause of the problem I was repairing in the first place.
Round five - Take back both crappy hoses bought from autozone, wait in line, again and complain to the associate about the wasted time, money, and transmission fluid I have just endured because of these hoses.
Round six - Pick up a new return hose from O'reillys which I had ordered on the internet after calling to confirm they had it in stock before leaving the house.
Round seven - Install new low pressure line fill with fluid and leak check, no leaks.Done.

I feel your pain. It shouldn't be this difficult. I once bought a new radiator, yanked out the old one, installed the new one and then discovered that the end tanks weren't crimped in place properly. Of course, by that time, I had installed the fan shroud and just about everything else but I hadn't filled the radiator. I should have noticed sooner, but who would have thought that the part you just bought was a piece of poo-poo. When I returned it to the store, the kid just said, "Well, it's got a lifetime warranty. We don't have another one. Why don't you just use it." I asked for my money back and they couldn't give me cash back since it was over $200. I had to wait a week to get a check from corporate. What a waste of time.
I try to inspect new parts very carefully before I install them to catch any "quality escapes". I reject more parts than I should have to, but I prefer not to do jobs twice.
