Need help with buying new carb

'78 ford f250
4.9L 300 manual transmission
1 barrel carb (see pic).

There are like 10 different models that look almost exactly the same and I don't know which one I'm supposed to get that won't require some modification. Is mine considered a "hot choke carb"? Hope these pics are enough for someone to help me out.
This is irritating me!

Also, a friend suggested a 2 barrel carb, but I can't find one for this engine. Any suggestions on that?

Thanks,
J

Here is a carb from summit racing that says it fits my model, but it doesn't have a pic of it from the front so I can't tell if it's reallly the same.

Are you subject to emissions? If not, I'd ditch that 1V and 1V intake to wake up your 300 with some more HP with at least a 2v manifold and an Autolite 2100 carb or a Holley 2300.

HIO,

No, I'm not subject to emissions. I'd love to ditch the 1V and upgrade but I've had trouble finding the models (for carb and manifold) to which I should upgrade. You got a link to that?

My bad.. there doesn't seem to be a 2v intake manifold so it would require an Offenhauser intake with an open plenum and a 2V adapter.

Or, and better yet, get the Offy divided 4V intake and a small 4V carb with around 500 cfm. The true potential however would be unleashed by going with headers first.

I'm with you on the headers and have already ordered them. But I'm on limited funds for this and the carb needs to be replaced. So I really need to just do that.
