Thanks for the welcome

Here is my story. I have a 71 4x4 short bed, that started life with a 360 2bbl, NP 435, single speed transfer case with 4.11 gears. Over the years I have swapped in power steering, NP 435/205, Dana 60 rear, 79 front 1/2 ton axle with 76- 3/4T spindles, rotors and hubs. It is now a 3/4T short bed. I need--, no wait, I want a 460/ZF/205 drive train. I'm happy to share my swapping experiences with those interested, hoping somebody out there has done a 460 ZF 205 swap or something like this. I have a 90 F250 4 x4 donor that I was going to use until I found out how much a fuel pump was and that the tank had to be dropped to install it. No thanks. I just got a 73 460 I'm using. I wonder (knowing how Ford changes things) if my 73 460 will bolt to the 90 ZF 5 speed I also need to know about engine placement and mounts in the frame. After skulking around this site for a year or so, I have learned a lot, but need more info. Thanks from Tucson Tim

I think some of the early efi 300-6s used a frame mounted pump.
And welcome.

Any year 460 will bolt the the zf trans as long as the zf was made for a big block 460. Many have swapped in a 460 over the years in there f100's there is a stock engine perch that will allow you to bolt in the 460 with all stock mounts but I forget which perches and engine mounts are used. Autofab makes engine perches for the swap or you could build your own. Got any pics of your truck to post up? So it has 8 lug wheels all around now? Good upgrades so far what power steering box did you go with?

Yes, 8 lugs all around. The p/s swap I did in 75 when I first bought the truck. I used a Saginaw truck box and Ford pump used from about 67-77? Its the round resovoir, I think made by Eaton for ford? I used power steering fluid, not atf. Atf has detergents, p/s fluid does not because there is no filter with factory p/s, and auto trans do. At the time, Ford's "better idea" was ram style, that's why I used the Saginaw box. It has had the same pump, box, and hoses since 75. There is an easy swap with 78-79 4x4 ford box fabing a "nut plate" for use with the boxed frame on the earlier 1/2 tons. I will upload some pics soon
