I replaced my hood hinge springs with the later dents springs that did help hold it up a little higher.
I get use to my truck high hood and when go work on the ex inlaws 70f250 low hood I go home with more battle scares also.
Also have had the my Jr west cost mirrors that have gotten a lot of meat from my head so many times
that I removed those thing as they really put many scares in my head.
And it helps if you ware a hat like a ball cap as the visor will hit the latch first most of the time plus soaks up the blood and keeps it from running down your face.

I've noticed that the hood doesn't stay up as far as it should. I can move it up by hand, but it droops back down when I let go of it. I need to take a look at/replace those hinges. I actually looked around for a stick or something to prop it up with when I started working on the truck yesterday, but I couldn't find anything handy. So, I just used my head instead....

Well, I FINALLY got around to installing my Pertronix II and coil! Put it in, wired it up, worked like a charm!! Also changed out the cap and button at the same time. Afterward, she fired tight up and ran great. I haven't checked the timing yet, maybe tomorrow. Only two issues of note: One, I had also purchased new plugs. When I removed the first old plug, I discovered it was a skinny plug. So, at least the heads are newer than I thought. Second, I musta hit my noggin 14 million times on that infernal hood latch POS. I bet 100 years from now, they'll dig that thing up and discover a generous amount of Caucasian male scalp flesh. I sure wish they'da designed that thing a little different somehow. I won't list all the cuss words I mumbled, but if i did, the list would be a long one....

Sure, I've tried oiling the hinges too, and still have a cut off old broom handle under my hood, just to make sure that it stays up, when I want it up. BTW, there's more than an old hood that needs to be propped up, when you reach 70 years old. Or 48 for that matter, as in the case of my old truck.
