I had to take a road trip today, roughly 350 mi. round trip. Went into regen as I got onto the turnpike, on the way home went into regen again, thats 3 and I have just 500 mi. with almost 400 of those miles highway/cruise control. Coming home I towed an empty flatbed trailer.
I wasn't expecting so many regen events with my usage.
Cruising isn't working the truck enough to get hot enough to passive regen. Apparently your empty trailer isn't working it enough either.

I spoke with my dealer since I'm in the same situation (very small town, I use it to get around town during the week). The tech said they can reflash the PCM and change the way the truck goes into regen, so it'll continue to regen while idling (i think?). It's supposed to act different, and is a solution from Ford directly. I told him I wanted to go ahead and delete the DPF and he said that'd be the way to go.

How do I know when regen is active? I get a 1 or 2 second regeneration notice, but I concentrate more on the road and traffic than I do to the instruments and suspect I am missing some cycles. I "think" I can tell when my MPG meter drops dramatically for a while, but is there any way to go into settings to verify?

If you miss the message popping up, the instant economy drop is the next best way to tell, other than getting a monitoring device such as an Edge.

I have notice on my F350 CCLB DRW, It uses about a gallon to gallon and half of fuel and takes about 20-22 miles.

Pretty long regen.

Mine are usually around 10 miles when I have them, which is rare.

Yes regens are much longer on the 2015s and also occur more frequently compared to either at 2008 or 2011.

2015: Generally take 21 to 23 miles of highway driving to complete the regeneration cycle completely.

I have noticed the same, approx. 25 mi. at highway driving. It seems to take much longer than I anticipated, but I came from a 6.0, so my only info I had was from reading here.

I only have about 12,000 on my truck. I filled the def tank at 7600 when I did my first oil change and the tank was empty when I hit 10,800. I was surprised I only got 3,000 miles on that tank. The 2011 I had typically gave me more range than this truck does.

I'm watching it now though. It could just be conditions or anything I suppose.

Any chance you have a tsb on that?

I asked, they said there isn't one but it's linked to a DTC, he didn't have it on hand. I'll go by and ask him again so I can continue to research it...
