Bout a 6.0

Hey Guys I bought a 2005 Harley Davidson 6.0 with 96k on after driving it for a wile I noticed coolant loss then I replaced the degas bottle and again noticed more coolant loss. They told me my heads were crack so I had them put the bullet proof kit on it replace the thermostat and waterpump. Is there anything else I need to do to it or anything I should be overly concerned about I drive it like a grandpa now lol thank for the help

Driving like a grandpa is probably the worst thing you can do. If you don't have something to watch your vitals I would recommend you getting some. How did they know it was head gaskets?? Alot of people take their trucks in because of loosing coolant and the first thing they want to say is head gaskets. Then you fit the bill. Not saying g it is or isn't but just saying. If it's been fixed properly and studded then hammer down and don't worry about it. IMO

I took it to a powerstroke specialist in tn. Coolant was spraying in the wheel well. I took it to two different places and that's what they told me.

Your cracked heads were spraying coolant in the fender wells? That's interesting.

Whose heads did they buy and install for you (Ford or aftermarket)? Which head gaskets did you use (Ford or aftermarket)? Did you have them install ARP head studs?

Did they delete the EGR cooler and replace the oil cooler? If you don't want to delete the EGR cooler than you at least need to replace it, preferably with a better aftermarket one. And if it isn't together yet, now is a good time to switch to ELC coolant.
Do the STC fitting update, and replace the dummy plugs and stand pipes.

The dummy plugs and stand pipe were replaced they used aftermarket gaskets and the egr delete was put on there before I bought it along with the blue spring mod the only thing I haven't done is replace the oil cooler. Are the known for going bad? And should I use fords or an aftermarket one. I just want to be sure the truck is reliable being as it is my only transportation. I plan on doing more upgrades from what I read on here just not really sure what takes priority.

Your plans for future upgrades is why I asked about the gaskets.

Some are know for having a high failure rate (specifically the Black Onyx).

The Ford head gaskets are the best choice right now with some other (potentially) good choices that have not yet passed the test of time.

I would avoid heavy tunes with the aftermarket head gaskets.

make sure you have gauges and I would add a coolant pressure gauge the the standard list of gauges.

Ok so I checked the receipt they have and it's a ford parts including the gaskets. I am currently running no tune on it because I don't want to cause any damage. I will look into a gauge for sure I also bought a coolant filter going to install it this weekend. Do I need to flush the coolant? They did it when they did the head job about 3k miles ago. Thanks for all the help
