obs vs nbs
ok so i've been lurking in the shadows here for a while. have gotten alot of help from this forum and i do alot of research here. i currently have a 00 f250 reg cab lb 5.4
its been a great truck and i've had it since 05. i love my truck, but, the time has come to upgrade so something with more room. absolutly no room in the reg cab.
i want a sc or cc lb 4x4 man trans 7.3. i will be spending some time trying to be patient to find my next truck.
my question is obs or nbs? i have driven both but its a hard choice. just looking for some opinions here. maybe hear from someone that has or had both.
thank you

If you are going to get a super cab, you'll probably want the new body style simply because the old super cab was still only a 2 door. Now a crew cab would give you the 4 doors on either style...
It'll come down to personal preference. I had a 97 7.3L super cab long bed and when I killed the body on that one I got an 03 6.0L super cab long bed and those back doors matter.
As for the interior, personally I prefer the interior of the Super Duty to the OBS.
But it'll be your truck! So it's your choice!

I'm going to throw NBS in. As it was mentioned, the NBS were designed around the 7.3L, so it's possible to do just about anything without much effort. Hell, I even pulled, re-oringed, and reinstalled all eight injectors on my old one without an issue.
Side story to that...my FIL's neighbor had a 7.3L NBS, and it started smoking. A mechanic I'd been taking my 6.0 to told the guy he'd need to lift the body to replace the injectors. My reaction was a confused 'ummm, what? I've done that job...and there is no need to lift the body, it just takes a little wiggling.'

these are the things i was hoping to hear. i agree with the guys on the looks of the obs. i love that body style. don't get me wrong i like my 2000 but the obs just looks awesome. and i do like my interior. but as far as options mine isn't really much different because anything i have in mine i can have in an obs. although the ones i drove didn't have a armrest in the middle. do any of them? may sound funny but that alone would be enough to make the choice for me. i'm a truck driver and if i don't have an arm rest for my right arm, my shoulder gets sore pretty quick.
i never thought about the room under the hood either. i'm def the type to work on my own truck. my mechanic is only there for inspection and advice sometimes. we have a pretty good working relationship it seems. the room to do everything needed would be very nice. especially with the maintenance required on a diesel.
on another note as far as i can remember, the only major difference in the engine between the two is an intercooler. am i right?
well i'm mostly thinking nbs now based on that. my only problem now is finding one is good shape. atm there are more obs's in good shape for sale around here. as far as the nbs's they are either overpriced (like theres an 02 for 22,000 no joke) or they are a beat up pos. patients will be the key here i'm sure. although if i come across an obs in damn good shape for a good price i will most likely jump on it.
thank you everyone for the replies. big help.
